The mission of River Valley Regional Commission (RVRC) is to support the cities and counties of the Lower Chattahoochee Rand Middle Flint Region to plan and develop the economic opportunities and infrastructure necessary to attain and maintain the highest living standard and quality of life attainable for residents of the regions and area local governments.

Included within the River Valley Regional Commission is the River Valley Area Agency on Aging

The River Valley Area Agency on Aging provides seniors opportunities to maintain their activity, independence, and dignity through a comprehensive, coordinated system of services and support. The AAA assesses need, advocates for seniors, engages community support, coordinates program funding, and monitors and evaluates the work of service providers to ensure that seniors receive high quality assistance. 

The overall goals of the Regional Commission are:

To prepare regional plans to meet the requirements of Coordinated Planning Legislation and program/infrastructure needs for the Lower Chattahoochee and Middle Flint Region and member local governments.

To achieve a diversified, well-balanced economy for the region with ample job opportunities for our citizens.

To assure a high quality education and educational opportunities to satisfy the needs, desire, aspirations, and potential of all our citizens.

To conserve and protect natural resources vital to future development and quality of life for citizens of the region.

To provide minimum levels of community infrastructure sufficient to provide job opportunities, basic educational enrichment, and quality life styles for area citizens in balance with natural resource systems.

What's new at the River Valley Regional Commission?   

 

Our name has changed! RIVER VALLEY REGIONAL COMMISSION. The Lower Chattahoochee RDC an the Middle Flint RDC have merged and now serve a 16 county region. These counties now include:

Harris, Talbot, Columbus-Muscogee, Cusseta-Chattahoochee, Stewart, Georgetown-Quitman, Randolph, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Macon, Marion, Schley, Sumter, Taylor and Webster.

Clubview Elementary School - FY09 Safe Routes to School Program Participant.

 

Chattahoochee County Elementary School Awarded Infrastructure Grant

Congratulations to Chattahoochee County Elementary School on being awarded the Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Grant.
The total amount awarded to the project is $175,118.35. The proposed project consists of adding the following:
1,700 linear feet of

sidewalk along Broad Street, 12 ADA compliant handicap ramps, 4 resting benches (2 along Broad Street and 2 along Merrell Street),

an additional bicycle rack inside the Elementary School Campus, solid traffic striping at five different locations, curb and gutter along

Merrell Street, supplementary storm drain pipe, as well as two catch basins, and School Zone Flashing Speed Limit Signage and

Pedestrian Crossing Signage.

   Additional construction activities for the project include:

bullet Traffic Control during construction
bullet 25 tons of Rip Rap
bullet Grading
bullet Asphalt patching
bullet Erosion Control

The main purpose of the above mentioned activities is to provide the necessary safeguards for children, parents, teachers and other
community members to get active, and for elementary school children to walk and cycle to school. In addition, we believe that this
project will also have a positive impact on the community and the environment within the school’s vicinity.
