Assists the region's
local governments with their Comprehensive Plan and Short-Term Work
Programs.
Provides local technical planning assistance to all local governments
annually with zoning ordinances/amendments/zoning maps/subdivision
regulations.Assists local
governments in preparation, adoption and utilization of land development
standards to protect existng development and guide new growth.
Coordinates implementation and planning of all municipal
member local governments for Service Delivery strategies.
Prepares updates for the Regional Agenda for the Lower Chattahoochee and
Middle Flint Area local governments.
Performs Regional Clearinghouse reviews.
Conducts reviews on applications for Federal or State grant/loan/permit
assistance applicants in accordance with the provisions of the Georgia
Intergovernmental Consultation process (Executive Order 12372).
Assists in Rural Empowerment Zone planning, Champion Community planning
and administration for the Southern Lower Chattahoochee COG, Inc.
Assists member governments in
securing grants and loan funds for a variety of community projects
including water, sewer, streets, storm drainage and outdoor recreation
facilities, and new and renovated buildings to house senior centers,
childcare centers, youth and family resource centers, mental
health/mental retardation/substance abuse centers, neighborhood service
centers, etc.
Develops, writes and administers
these projects funded with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG),
USDA and other sources.
Works with the Southwest Georgia United Empowerment Zone covering Crisp
and Dooly counties to maximize the benefit of this federal designation
to local residents and governments.
Provides planning assistance to Georgia Department of Natural
Resources-Environmental Protection Division, Total Maximum Daily Load
program.
Assists Georgia RAC 8 program planning for 16 county area jurisdiction in
coordination with Georgia DITT and DCA.
Provides assistance with the development of ordinances for the protection
of environmental resources that meet the Environmental Planning Criteria.
